 One of 3 documented vinyl top Daytonas, and the only Mod Top, during the restoration it was determined conclusively that it was a design team "one of" creation built during the summer of 1969 while the vehicle was converted from an R/ T Charger into a Daytona Charger at Creative Industries.

It is speculated this was done for a show of some type but that has yet to be confirmed, another Daytona with a vinyl top was prepped for a show and that is fully documented. This particular car was sold new in British Columbia Canada at Plimley Dodge with the top installed when it arrived which has been confirmed.

During the restoration Mod Top material was found behind window clips and in places it could only have been placed when the car was being converted into a Daytona.

Further discussions with a design team employee conclusively confirmed that this is Chrysler Built-during the summer of 1969 Mod Top proto type with what most think is the ugliest flowered top pattern Chrysler ever built.

Duncan Mounsey, the staff engineer who created the legendary Mod Top material for the Dodge Design Team during the summer of 1969 in 4 unique colors and just before shipping it he cut 4 small samples off each colored roll and then shipped the 4 rolls of Mod Top material directly to Chrysler.

Mopar Collector's Guide magazine ran aticle on the car in Feb and March 2011.

“The Jaguar six only won Le Mans like what, five times?” Nesbitt says of the engine. “The 4.2 is such a great torque motor and CNG is really a torque fuel, so it’s a great pairing.”

Nesbitt says the octane rating equivalent for natural gas is 130, so the engine required specially forged high-compression 12.5:1 pistons and high-lift, short-duration camshafts.

The Barris "Snake Pit" I've never seen or heard of before. Seems it was a complete waste of time and money

The lore of the Snake Pit is legion: Barris and associates in California set forth to build not just any custom car, but one that could tackle land speed records north of 300 mph. For motive power, they chose six dual quad 351 cu in V8s, good for roughly 2,000 hp, tied to a pair of Ford C-6 automatic transmissions and Pontiac rear-ends feeding the rear wheels. The body, which looks like an early prototype of the land speeder from the first "Star Wars," received 30 coats of hand-rubbed lacquer. 

Total build time: Four years. Total value upon completion: $100,000, by Barris' own estimate.

Total records achieved: Zero.

It was a display at the failed Euro Disney.

It was hand-built by a team led by Harry Bradley, Joe Bailon and Jay Ohrberg. They were employed in this project by California Show Cars.

At the Triumph Grill and motorcycle museum in St Louis

The Pete has re-opened, after refurbing the exterior... Autoweek did a great job taking photos of the cars inside, and you can save yourself the trip, but it looks like the exhibits finally got a long over do cleanout. Nothing looks like it did, it look s 100 times better

A total of 100 automobiles, 23 motorcycles, four scooters, one bobsled and one full-sized Lightning McQueen are on the grid as the museum throws open its doors again on Sunday, Dec. 6 in a special $200 “Preview Day.” After that you can get in for a mere 15 bucks, a pittance compared to the $90 million spent on the renovation.

"The ribbons float around the building "evoking imagery of speed and the organic curves of a coach-built automobile,” the museum says. OMG. Love it or hate it (and the only people we've heard say they love it are on the board of the museum)
